Thomas Andrew "Tommy" Bartley, 73, New Haven, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Nelson County and worked as an auto and farm machinery mechanic with the Doyle Nalley Garage in New Haven and later for the Abbey of Gethsemani where he was in charge of all motor vehicles. He was a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, New Haven. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Elizabeth Johnson Bartley; a son, Dennis Bartley; a daughter, Gayle Bartley; his parents, Joseph Leslie and Mary Bessie Gaffney Bartley; and two brothers, Charles Bartley and Billy Bartley. Survivors include seven daughters, Lisa M. Miller, Karen A. Bivens, Larna J. Zeugner, Julie R. Vaira, Susan Bautista, all of Bardstown, Jennifer R. Burba and Paula M. Bray, both of New Haven; a son, Scott Bartley, New Haven; 22 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Martha Wilmouth and Ann Garner, both of Bardstown, Edith Riggs, Louisville; and four brothers, Pat Bartley, New Haven, Keith Bartley, New Hope, Junior Bartley, Bloomfield, and Bobby Bartley, Loretto. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, New Haven, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jeffrey P. Leger will officiate. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Wednesday at Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
