MRS. CLIFTON JOHNSON
(Death- January 9, 1969)

A first grade teacher at the Plainfield grade school, Mrs. Clifton Johnson, 46, Plainfield, died Thursday, Jan. 9, at St. Joseph's hospital in Marshfield, where she had been a patient for 10 days.

The former Gladys Conover was born March 16, 1922, at Plainfield, and had lived in the area all her life. She was a graduate of Plainfield high school and the Wisconsin State University- Stevens Point where she earned a bachelor of education degree in primary education. She was married to Clifton Johnson on June 17, 1944, in Wisconsin Rapids. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the United Methodist church, Plainfield, the Woman's society of Christian Service and the Leola Community club.

She is survived by her husband, four sons, Byron, a student at Wisconsin State University, Platteville, Burrell, Chris and Jerry, at home, one daughter, Jane, at home, two brothers, Lloyd Conover, Plainfield and Lester Conover, Almond.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 12 at the United Methodist church, with the Rev. Harold Gray officiating. Burial was in the Plainfield cemetery. Pallbearers were Floyd and Lyle Reid, Millard Allison, Charles Allison, Julius Plahana and Art Haviland.
