Then in 1828, they moved from Connecticut to "Canada West", which is today known as Ontario Canada.
Joseph and Mary had two more childern, Tamson, and Maryette 'Margaret', who were born in Dereham Township, Oxford County, Ontario, Canada
He farmed in the area of Dereham Township in Oxford County for the remainder of his working years, and then retired, with his wife Mary, residing with his son John Willard Chase and his family, in Dereham Township.
Joseph died there and was buried in the Tillsonburg Pioneer Graveyard. His wife, Mary (Converse) Chase moved to Iowa in 1854 along with her sons John Willard Chase, and James Elijah Chase. The families settled in Superior Township, Buchanan County. Mary lived with the family of her son, James Elijah Chase. (b.1818) and his wife, Elisabeth A. (Chase) Spragg.
