Funeral services for Delbert Harris, 84, of Colmesneil, Texas were held September 2, 1997 at 1 p.m. at Riley Funeral Home with Rev. Grady Edward Hopkins officiating. Burial was held at Colmesneil City Cemetery. Visitation was held September 1, 1997 from 3 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Harris died August 30, 1997 at Lakes Regional Medical Center in Jasper. A native of Center, he moved to Colmesneil in 1954. He was self-employed in the salvage business and a WW II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife: Bonnie Harris of Colmesneil; daughter, Debra June Compeau of Huntington; grandson, Delbert C. Dawes of Humble; sisters, Corine Merriweather of Dallas, Altie Hart of Nacogdoches and Chrlene Byrum of Dallas; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Jerry Cherry, Gary Outlaw, Walt Evans, Kenneth Key, Mike McCain, and Delbert Dawes.

Services were under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County
