1871 Korean Campaign Medal of Honor Recipient. He served in the United States Navy under the name of "Patrick Henry Grace" during the Korean Expedition of June 10 and 11, 1871, and was awarded the CMOH for his bravery while serving as Quartermaster the "USS Benicia". His citation reads "Carrying out his duties with coolness, Grace set forth gallant and meritorious conduct throughout this action." He was one of 15 United States sailors and marines to be awarded the Medal of Honor for this little-known American military action.
