Virgie Shannon Lewter, 86, of 27459 North Wales Road, Ardmore, AL, died Monday, February 3, 1997, in the Athens-Limestone Hospital, Athens, AL.
Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, February 5) at 1p.m. in the Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wheeler Kidd officiating. Burial will be in the Gatlin Cemetery with Taylor Funeral Home in charge.
A native and lifelong resident of Limestone County, AL, Mrs. Lewter was the daughter of the late James Monroe and Sarah Elizabeth (Sally) Shannon. She was retired from Ardmore High School Cafeteria and was a member of the Sweet Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Charles E. Lewter of Rogersville, AL, Calvin Lewter of Hueytown, AL, and Nolen Lewter of Norwalk, CA; two daughters, Carolyn Coulter and Mary Mullins both of Ardmore, AL; one brother, Berry Shannon of Ardmore, AL; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Gene
