Walter Axline Boor was born on January 27, 1849 in Middletown, Henry Co., IN, the oldest son of Dr. William F. and Catherine E. (Axline) Boor.
Walter studied medicine with his father and, in March 1872, graduated from the medical department at Michigan University. He attended regular courses at the Bellevue Hospital College, in New York, and graduated from there in March, 1876. Few physicians at his age had his advantages, and none had made closer application and been rewarded with more successful results.
Walter entered into partnership with his father in August, 1877, in New Castle, Henry Co., IN, and became one of the most efficient and active practitioners of the city. He was a member of the Henry County Medical Society, and had several times been elected as its presiding officer; also a member of the Indiana State Medical Society, and of the American Medical Association.
Jonathan married Angelia Hess, the only daughter of Dr. L. W. Hess, of Cadiz, Henry Co., IN, on September 24, 1873 in Henry Co., IN. They had two sons born to them: Howard Hess Boor, on October 21, 1874, and Frank Boor on May, 25, 1884.
