H. Clara Belle ROCKWELL, 89, 2821 Barrett Road, died at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Hospital.
Born in Barron, Wisc., to Fred S. and Nettie LOWE CARR, she married Paul J. "Rocky" ROCKWELL April 12, 1940, in South Bend. He died Aug. 8, 1987.
Mrs. Rockwell was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Manitou Chapter. She enjoyed fishing, knitting and cooking, and was especially known for her homemade pies.
Survivors include daughters, Paula BIRKLE and husband Don, Huntley, Montana, Teresa ZIESENHENE and husband Bill, South Bend, Joanna JANA and husband Wayne, Rochester; grandchildren, Dan and wife Jean BIRKLE, Sherwood, Ark., Melissa and husband Jim GONGWER, Edmond, Okla., Justin BIRKLE and Lisa KULISH, Huntley, Mont., Beth and husband Emery ARNDT, Granger, Becky and husband Jeremy KOEHLINGER, Fishers, Eric JANA, Bloomington, Scott JANA, Tallahassee, Fla., and Kristen JANA, Rochester; great-grandchildren, Matthew BIRKLE and Katherine BIRKLE, both of Sherwood, Ark., Emily GONGWER, Edmond, Okla., and Hunter BIRKLE and Ashley BIRKLE, both of Huntley, Mont.; two sisters, Madge MILLISER and Louise DRUDGE, both of Rochester; one daughter-in-law, Bobbie BOLT, Knoxville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death with her husband were one son, H.E. "Spike" ROCKWELL in 1969, two brothers, Clarence and Westel CARR, and two sisters, Ruth NEWELL and Ida Catherine CUTSHAW.
Services are at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with Rev. Rick TAYLOR officiating. Burial will be at IOOF Cemetery, Rochester. Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the United Ministries Food Pantry.
