Velda M. Meiring, 83, Americana Healthcare Center, died at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 1988, in the facility. She was born Feb. 26, 1905, in Benton County, a daughter of Bert and Effie (Ream) Baer. July 19, 1939, she married Joseph J. Meiring, who died April 21,1958. Meiring, a retiree of Kingston Products, was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Surviving are a stepson, Lawrence Meiring of Kokomo; two sisters, Myrtle Seagrave and Zula Peele, both of Kokomo; seven step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. Seven brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Patrick Catholic Church by the Rev. Patrick Courtney. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ellers Mortuary where a Scripture service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the heart association.
