Ernest O Fields, age 69, native of Cumberland County, passed away in the family home on Lantana Road about 8 p.m. Sunday, November 5 after many weeks of illness.
Services were scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 8 in the Lantana Church of Christ with Bro R J Hearn officiating; burial was to take place in the Lantana cemetery.
Son of the late John and Emoline Edmonds Fields, his marriage to Myrtle MacDowell, who survives, took place in November 1901. He was employed as forest fire patrolman for the Lantana community for a number of years and was also occupied with farming until his health failed.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 5 daughters: Mrs J T Grissom, Chattanooga; Mrs C L Burnett, Copperhill; Mrs Wilker Beyer, Mrs Clyde Ottinger, Crossville; Miss Joyce Fields, at home; 3 sons, Everette, Chattanooga; Sgt Ernest Eugene, with the Armed Forces, Alaska; Emmitt, Crossville; 5 grandchildren; 1 sister, Mrs Dallas Mercer, Dayton, Oh; 6 brothers, W N, Pikeville; Thomas, Rossville, Ga; Ephraim, California; Addison, Elmer and McKinley, Cumberland county.
