Mabel Clester Crume, 100, Greentown, formerly of Kokomo, died at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, in Century Villa Healthcare, Greentown. Born Aug. 12, 1909, in Tilton, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Elihu Oliver Clester and Elizabeth Ann (Farmer) Clester. On Aug. 27, 1932, in Kokomo, she married Chester Addison Crume, who preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 1965.

She was a 1928 graduate of Kokomo High School. She was a bookkeeper at Continental Steel, retiring after more than 43 years of service. She enjoyed playing the organ and piano, and also enjoyed oil, pastel and water color painting and other crafts. She was a member of Fairfield Christian Church, where she served as organist and pianist for a number of years.

She was a 50-year member and Past Matron of Greentown Chapter 195 O.E.S. She was an honorary member of Kokomo Chapter 89 and Center Chapter 108 O.E.S. She served Greentown Chapter as organist, and assisted Kokomo and Center Chapter.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main Street, Kokomo. Pastor Jim Reynolds will officiate. Burial will follow at Crown Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
