HOMER - Thelma Mae Ayers Dunson, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3, 2016, of natural causes.

Thelma’s family always came first for her. She loved them all with a deep love that was more than love. She was a pillar of the Banks County community for years. From its origination, she willingly volunteered in several capacities of the North Georgia Christian Service Camp in Clarkesville, which has impacted innumerable lives over the last 50 years. She was a faithful member and worker of Bethany Christian Church until her death. She cherished the Banks County Senior Center, dedicating countless hours and energy to the people she interacted with there over the last several decades.

There was seldom a dull moment around Thelma. Always the center of attention and life of the party, she was loved by most everyone who came into contact with her. She never met a stranger, and if you gave her enough time, she could figure out how you were related to just about anyone. And if she saw someone in need, it was her natural instinct to help and serve however she could.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Irene and Otho Ayers; a brother, JD Ayers; and her husband, Marvin Dunson.
We’ll miss her laugh, but look forward to the day when we will meet again. What a day, glorious day that will be.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Jane Dunson, Homer; and her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Steve Turpin, Homer; grandchildren, Angie and Stacey Campbell, Homer, Kassie and Jeff Suggs, Homer, Russ and Jennifer Turpin, Franklin, Tenn., Abby and Mick Ramsey, Homer; and Heather and Justin Chapman, Homer; great-grandchildren, Aidan Turpin, Johannah Ramsey, and Leeroy Chapman; and nephews, nieces, and special friends who loving called her Aunt Tom.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, April 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Bethany Christian Church on Wednesday, April 6, at 2 p.m., with her lying in state from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Ministers William Bray and Bill Moody will officiate, with internment at Bethany Christian Church Cemetery.

Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
