SILVER SPRINGS -- The Rev. Wilton E. Johnson, 86, a retired minister and farmer, died Sunday, May 25, 1997, at Marion House Health Care of Ocala.

The Rev. Johnson was born in Liberty, S.C., and had been a resident of Marion County since 1932. He was a member of the Ocklawaha Bridge Baptist Church at Lynne. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

The Rev. Johnson was the former pastor of Simmons Baptist Church in Citra, the Hopeful Baptist Church in Lake City, the Orange Lake Baptist Church, the Morriston Baptist Church, the Citra Baptist Church and the Ebenezer Baptist
Church in Trenton.

Survivors include his daughters, Martha Kay Horne of Candler, N.C., and Linda Johnson Kingsley of Fort McCoy; a son, Wilton E. Johnson Jr. of Silver Springs; a brother, Garnett Johnson of Charleston, S.C.; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Mae Shaulis Johnson.

Hiers Funeral Home, Ocala, is handling arrangements.
