Goldie C. White, 95, West Jefferson, N.C., formerly of Kokomo and Palm Coast, Fla., died at 3:10 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at the home of her sister in Kokomo. She was born Oct. 11, 1913, in Union County, Tenn., the daughter of Johnnie and Alice (Graves) Dossett. She was married in February 1932, in Tennessee, to Hobert C. White, and he preceded her in death Aug. 15, 1989.
Goldie retired from Delco Electronics in 1980, after 16 years of service. She was employed at Cuneo Press for 14 years prior and at General Electric before that. While a resident of Kokomo, she was a member of Fairlawn United Brethren Church. In addition to quilting, she loved baking and was well known for her delicious pies.
Survivors include one daughter, Loreda Ozment and her husband, Thomas; three grandchildren, Julie Pelicano, David Ozment and Beth Taylor, all of West Jefferson, N.C.; four great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Eva Dalton, Kokomo; and many dear nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband, one son, six brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor Paul Enochs officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery.
