Born Jan. 14, 1922, he was the son of Otis Jonathon and Jennie Mabel Bush Oliver. He was married on Oct. 20, 1951, in Danville, Ill., to Clara Maddox, who survives.
He attended Tech High School in Indianapolis and enlisted in the United States Army on Nov. 14, 1942. He was honorably discharged Christmas Day 1945. While serving in the Army he fought in the China- Burma-India (CBI) Theater.
Decorations and citations include the Asian-Pacific Theater Ribbon, the Good Combat Ribbon Victory Medal, the Distinguished Unit Badge, and the Meritorious Unit Award. Mr. Oliver retired from Delco Electronics in July 1980 after over 33 1/2 years of employment.
He attended First Assembly of God in Delphi, where his son is pastor. Known as the "fix-it" man, he was a member of the American Legion Post 6, Kokomo.
Also surviving are four sons. Robert Oliver Jr. of Florida, Mike Oliver of Westfield, Clee Oliver of Kokomo and Brent Oliver of Delphi; two sisters. Pansy Berzetta Shrader and Minnie Rose Vanosdol; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Services were held Tuesday in Kokomo with the Rev. Brent Oliver officiating. Burial with military rues was in Albright Cemetery. Memorials may be made lo First Assembly of God, Delphi, for a "special building fund project".
