James M. Almond, 87, of Woodville, died July 25 at Tyler County Hospital in Woodville.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, at Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with Rev. Mike Privitt officiating. Interment followed in Magnolia Cemetery.

A native of Keystone, LA, he lived in the Groves-Port Arthur area 40 years before moving to Woodville 32 years ago. He was retired from Gulf Oil in the marine department in Port Arthur, and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Almond of Woodville; a son, Kenneth Almond of Dayton; stepsons, Arvis Flowers and Alvin Flowers, both of Woodville and Calvin Flowers of Sulphur Springs; a daughter, Norene Nunez of Port Neches, a sister, Lillie Alvarez of Kirbyville; five grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Paul Howe, John H. Miller, Herbert Lee, Joe Goode, Bill Jordan, and Johnny M. Barton.
