Services for Edward Lee "Butch" Briggs, Sr., 71, of Memphis, TX, will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Downey, officiating. Burial will follow in Chillicothe Cemetery in Chillicothe, TX under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, TX.
Mr. Briggs passed away Friday, November 20, 2009 in Amarillo, TX.

Butch was born April 10, 1938 in Chillicothe, TX. He worked for WTU which later became AEP and was a barber for 50 years when he retired in 2008. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one son, Gregory Lynn Briggs.

He is survived by one son, Eddy Briggs, Jr. and wife Darlene of Vernon, TX; one daughter, Melanie Longmiles and husband William of Fort Worth, TX; four grandchildren, Desiree Briggs and Jason Moore both of Denver, CO; Jessica Longmiles and Zachary Longmiles both of Fort Worth, TX; one great-granddaughter, Nyssa Longmiles of Fort Worth, TX and close friend, Clara Davidson of Memphis, TX.
