Harvey D. James was born August 21, 1869, near Topeka. He passed away June 30, 1933, at the home in Rossville, at the age of 63 years, 10 months and 9 days.

When he was two years old his parents moved to a farm west of Rossville, and he has made his home in Rossville.

He was united in marriage to Charity Campbell of Silver Lake, April 3, 1901. To this union were born three children, Gladys, Mildred and Thelma, all of Rossville.

Mr. James has been connected with many community activities. He was associated in the operation of the Farmers' Cooperative Elevator for several years after coming to town. He was also given himself freely to the community service, serving as Township trustee, Councilman, and in many other forms of public service. He was a member of the Modern Woodman of America and the United Methodist Church.



He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Charity James, three daughters, Mrs. W. F. Reaser, Mrs. Floyd Cless, and Miss Thelma James, two granddaughters, Jo Ann Reaser and Beverly Jean Cless; also four brothers, Charles and J. E. of Topeka, Sherman and Harry of Rossville; three sisters, Mrs. E. C. Kassebaum, of Topeka, Mrs. Gus Kassebaum and Mrs. John Reid, of Rossville, together with numerous more distant relatives.
