---Mrs. R. B. Turner, a resident of this city for forty-one years, died the morning of February 22, 1945.
---Funeral services were conducted from the Community Presbyterian Church Saturday afternoon at 2:00 by her pastor, Rev. Fred L. Hudson. Interment was in the La Plata cemetery.
---Laura Rockwood Elgin, oldest daughter of Jacob Russ and Elizabeth Pickett Elgin, was born March 10, 1867 in Shelby County, Missouri.
---She was married to Robert Bradley Turner on October 14, 1890 and was the mother of three children, Mrs. Leon Tansil, Mrs. A.W. Steinback and Robert Elgin Turner. She also leaves her husband and one grandson, Robert W. Steinback; four sisters, Mrs. William Pink, Mrs. W.D. Claggett, Mrs. Amanda Corder and Miss Annie Elgin.
---Mrs. Turner was a charter member of the Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Missouri and a member of the La Plata Presbyterian Church for thirty-nine years.
---Attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Steinback of Shelbyville, Missouri, Robert W. Steinback of Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs. W.D. Claggett, Mrs. Amanda Corder and Miss Annie Elgin of Quincy, Illinois, Woodrow Elgin of Jefferson City, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Eggert of Kirksville, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Taylor, David Hawkins and Judge Libby of Shelbina, Mr. and Mrs. V.L. Drain, Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Crain, Mr. and Mrs. E.P. Thompson, Mrs. Morris Osborn and Mrs. Roy D. Hutcher (or Hatcher) of Shelbyville; Mrs. Minta Hollman of Palmyra, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur King of Greentop, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Clarkson, Frank Norfolk of Moberly, Mrs. Ruby King Campbell of Kirksville, George Bealmer of Atlanta and Dr. and Mrs. J.M. McKim of Kirksville.
