H.H. Hawkins, Former Resident Buried Tuesday

Funeral services for H.H. "Happy Hawkins, 80, former Hereford resident, were held Tuesday afternoon in the Polk Street Methodist Church in Amarillo with Rev. Eugene Slater, pastor, officiating.

Hawkins died in his home, 1624 Hughes Street in Amarillo, Monday after an illness of about 10 months.

He was born July 5, 1872 in Midlothian and moved to Hereford in 1900 where he was engaged in the wholesale produce business until he moved to Amarillo in 1941. He was also engaged in wholesale produce in Amarillo.

Active Methodist
Mr. Hawkins was an active member of the Methodist Church and was interested in the Methodist Orphanage in Waco, the Amarillo Children's Home and Boy's Ranch.

Survivors include: his wife; one son, Raymond of Amarillo; one daughter, Mrs. Don Baker of Borger; a sister, Mrs. Lucretia Works of Dallas; a sister-in-law, Mrs. D.W. Hawkins of Hereford and three grandchildren.

Pall bearers from Hereford were W.J. Stanford, A.H. Davis and George McLean.

Burial was in Wet Park Cemetery.

Hal was the son of Marcellus Talbot Hawkins and Amanda Newton. He was a produce wholesaler. He married Emma Wheeler and they had the following known children:

*William Raymond Hawkins
