From The Fremont County Herald, July 26, 1923, page 1, Col 5, transcribed by Linda Berney:
Mrs. L. J. Keyser--Eliza Acord, daughter of Jacob and Cintha Acord, was born near Sidney, Iowa, June 22, 1843. died at her home in Tabor July 11, 1923, she having lived her entire life in Fremont County. On January 31, 1861 she was united in marriage to Leander J. Keyser. To this union were born six children two of them dying in infancy. Those living are: Edward R. and Elmer L. of Sidney, Iowa, Mrs. M. L. Gaylord of Tabor, Mrs. J. H. Potter of Nebraska City. Her health began to fail last winter, but her last sickness was of eight weeks duration. During this time some of her children and many times all of them were there to assist in giving her every needed attention. Mrs. Keyser united with the Methodist church many yeas ago, continuing in that faith until her death. She was a good neighbor ever ready to extend her help where ever needed. Besides her four children, she leaves three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Rachel VanNess and Mrs. Amanda Duncan of Sidney, Mrs. Mary McCluskey of Haxby, Montana, Jacob Acord of Upton, Wyoming and fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Not many have spent eighty years in one county as did Grandma Keyser. She passed through all the stages of pioneer life, saw the country grow, the virgin soil grow to its high state of production. The many forests turned into productive fields. Another pioneer has passed on, one who has done what she could for state and humanity. "I say verily, verily, she shall receive her reward."Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the M. E. church at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. Coleson of Tabor having charge of the services. Interment was made in Tabor cemetery. The pall bearers were six grandsons, Clyde and Herschel Gaylord, Opal, Ted and Carl Keyser and Harlan Potter.
