Robert Warren Crites, 79, who had lived in Panhandle for 12 years, died at the family home at 7 o'clock Sunday morning, March 2, after an illness of 5 months, although he had been in failing health for several years.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the First Methodist Church with Rev. S. Frank Weir, minister, officiating. Burial was in Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Poston Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Audie Morgan, W.A. Miller, Carl Metcalf, C.C. Geuther, George Curyea, Troy Dowlen. Honorary pallbearers were member of Panhandle I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 686.

Crites was born Jan. 10, 1873, at Saline, Mo. As a young man he moved to Oklahoma, where he was married in Elk City Jan. 12, 1902, to Annie Bunch, who survives him.

They made their home in Sayre, where he was a carpenter, until coming to Panhandle, where he also followed that trade until ill health forced his retirement in 1948.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church, Panhandle, and the I.O.O.F. and Rebekah Lodges of Sayre.

Survivors other than the wife are one son, L.D. Crites, Panhandle; 3 daughters, Mrs. C.E. Meaker, Panhandle; Mrs. Edith Evans, Clovis, N.M.; Mrs. Olive Leike, Bakersfield, Calif.; 2 brothers, E.F. Crites, Sr., Fort Worth; C.E. Crites, Sayre; sister, Mrs. Mattie McCarty Keller; 6 granddaughters, Mrs. Betty Janssen, Inez Meaker, Hazel Meaker, Shelley Mae Crites, Panhandle; Wanda Sue Evans, Clovis; Mrs. Grace Bulla, Big Spring; 3 grandsons; Robert Meaker, Stephen Crites, Panhandle, and Juan Evans, Clovis; 3 great-grandchildren, Sandra, Linda and Nicki Janssen, Panhandle.

Two sons and 2 daughtetrs [sic][ preceded him in death.
