Deceased was born in Rushville, Ill, on September 1861, he remained there until he was fifteen years old, when he with his parents moved to Butler County, Nebraska. In 1880 he went back to Illinois where on February 4, 1884 he was married to Alice Sanderson. They continued to live in Illinois until March, 1889 when they moved to Custer County, Nebraska and to the place they have since lived.
He has been a member of the Ansley Camp of the M.W. A. since September, 1897, and held a policy for $2,000.00. He had not been well for over a year, but was confined to his bed and constant attendance only during the last three weeks of his illness.
He leaves a wife and five children, three boys and two girls, the oldest being 12 years old on the day of his death. They had buried their first child in its infancy. His father, mother, five sisters and three brothers are all living and were all at his bedside during his late illness, except his mother, who was not able to be there and one sister who lives in Butler County.
His remains were taken to miller, Buffalo county, where the most of his relatives reside. The funeral service was conducted by the Miller and Sumner Camps of the M.W.A., services being held in the Methodist church, Rev. Gilson officiating.
He was a man of noble character and exemplary habits, one who was respected and admired by all who knew him."
