Funeral services for Mrs. Lily Singleton, 61, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at her home here, the Rev. George Wells of Richland officiating, assisted by the Rev. C. A. Stevenson.
Burial was in the Ava cemetery under direction of the Clinkingbeard Undertaking company.
Mrs. Singleton died Monday following a prolonged illness.
Mariam Lily Turner was born February 2, 1876, at Arno. She was the seventh of nine children born to Samuel and Sarah Lyon Turner. She attended public school at Arno and after two years spent at Drury College in Springfield was married on February 24, 1895, to William I. Singleton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Singleton of Ava.
To this union one child, a daughter, Josephine, was born. Mr. Singleton died January 3, 1906. Mrs. Singleton united with the Methodist Episcopal church in Ava in 1917.
Besides her husband, her father and mother, four sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. L. V. Ellison, of Ava, a sister, Mrs. Sallie J. Adams of Jefferson City, and a brother, Frank H. Turner of Wellington, Kansas.
