Died

At the home of her eldest daughter Mrs. B.F. Roumines, near Martinsville, Ill., March 15, 1890, of asthma and La Grippe, Mrs. Amelia S. Meskimens, mother of Al. Meskimens, of Onaga, Kansas.

Mother Meskimens was born in Coshocton county, Ohio, June 20, 1808. She was the mother of fourteen children, whom she raised and kept together until they were married, most of which she did alone as her husband died of cholera in 1849 on the Missouri river. For several years she made her home with her children near Onaga, until one year ago last September she went to Illinois to visit her daughter. She intended, after visiting there two years, to return to Kansas, but she was called to a more beautiful and permanent home on high. She was a devoted christian, a tender mother, and by her kindness endeared herself to all her acquaintances. Her remains were interred in Auburn cemetery, Clark county, Ill. Her home, during the time she raised her children, was near Bridgeville, Guernsey County, Ill.
