"German A. Armstrong served during World War I in the 10th Engineering Batallion - Forestry Division between 1917 -1919. The 10th Forestry Division provided wood for the construction of roads, railroads, barracks, telephone lines, telegraph lines, and other construction projects. During the two years of operation, they cut over 53 million board feet of lumber in accordance with principals of French forestry operation. This unit was one of the most important units of World War I and the victory of the allied armies."
