Sarah Schmitt - She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Witmer, born February 25, 1877, in Wilmot Township, Ontario; passed away October 28, 1952, at the home of her daughter in Kitchener, Ontario, following a brief illness; aged 75 years 8 months 3 days.
On March 13, 1901, she was united in marriage to Samuel Schmitt, who preceded her in death in 1939.
Surviving are 5 sons (Lorne, Haliburton, Ontario; Delton, Baden, Ontario; Harold, New Dundee, Ontario; Edward, St. George, Ontario; and Wilfred, Petersburg, Ontario), 5 daughters (Vinetta--Mrs. Herbert Feick, Strasburg, Ontario; Edith-Mrs. Lester bachert, Waterloo, Ontario; Edna-Mrs. Harold Schiedel, Doon, Ontario; Reta-Mrs. Clifford Knechtel, Mannheim, Ontario; and Ethel-Mrs. Also Bauman, Kitchener, Ontario), 2 brothers (Wesley, Hespeler, Ontario; and Edmund, Kitchener, Ontario), 4 sisters (Mrs. Noah Otterbein, Kitchener, Ontario; Mrs. Nancy Spaetzel, Preston, Ontario; Mrs. Emma Spaetzel, New Dundee, Ontario; and Mrs. Enoch Gingerich, Kitchener, Ontario), 41 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was a faithful member of the First Mennonite Church ever since her reception in February, 1946, when she transferred her membership from Latschar, Mannheim, Ontario.
Funeral services were held October 31, at the First Mennonite Church, Kitchener, Ontario, in charge of C. F. Derstine and J. H. Hess, with Osiah Horst assisting.
Burial was made in the Latschar Cemetery, Mannheim, Ontario.
