Funeral services for Carolyn Gaye Nix will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2001 in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel, Winnfield with Bishop Loy Gaar officiating. Burial will be in Couley Cemetery near Winnfield under direction of Southern Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 4 - 9 p.m. Wednesday, September 19 and from 8 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
Mrs. Nix, age 59 of Winnfield died Tuesday, September 18, 2001 in her residence. She was a native of Alexandria, LA and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Hannah Michelle Ellerbe.
Survivors are her husband, Maurice Nix of Winnfield; one son, Maurice Nix II of Winnfield, LA; four daughters, Kathy Ellerbe and Lisha Cox of Winnfield, LA, Leona Nugent of Alexandria, LA and Opal Bates of Houston, TX; her mother, Lurlene Frugee of St. Francisville, LA; one brother, Randall Stalsby of St. Francesville, LA; one sister, Delores Nugent of Gonzales, LA; 12 grandchildren, Carolyn Hines, Penny Harper, Tammy Taylor, Brittany Ellerbe, Billy Ellerbe, Mandy Gaar, Christy Nugent, Tanya Nugent, Cammille Bates, Alexander Bates, Jonothan Cox, and Charles Cox; and eight great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Cox, Jed Cox, Eddie Franks, Chris Sanders, Toby Wright and Billy Ellerbe.
Honorary pallbearer is Billy Ellerbe, Jr.
