James R. (Jim) Bowman, 78, of Springdale died in the hospital there Sunday morning, Dec. 25, after several weeks illness. He was born Oct. 8, 1882 in the Wharton community and was a resident of this county until moving to Springdale several years ago. His parents were William Bowman and Paralee Phillips Bowman.
Survivors include his wife, Tennie, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Banda Ledbetter of Niotaze, Kansas and Mrs. Rhoda Stansell of Nortonville, Kansas; two sons, Wilburn and Allen Bowman of Springdale; two brothers, Henry Bowman of Aurora and John Bowman of Seneca, Mo.; 33 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Vivan Rhodes and Rev. Cecil Garrison of Springdale. Burial was in the Wharton cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home.
