Mary Pauline Blum, wife of ex-County Commissoner, William Blum, died at the family home on German Hill early Saturday morning. She was born in Germany, coming to this country early in life and locating with her parents in Herkimer County, N.Y., where she grew up to womanhood. On September 16, 1865, she was united in marriage with William Blum and became the mother of nine children. In the fifty-six years of married life, this is the first death in that family, the husband and nine children, whose names follow, surviving: Herman F.; Chas. F.; Edward S.; Elton W.; Mrs. F. (Susie) Dickrager and Mrs. Fred (Elda) Rudolph, of German Hill; Mrs. J.H. (Martha) Walters of Bradford; Mrs. H.P. (Kate) Rheese of Tulsa, Okla.; and George H. of Ludlow. She is also survived by one brother, Charles Metz of Eagle Rock. Mrs. Blum had resided continuously with her husband on the farm where she passed away for about half a century, being among the early settlers on German Hill.

Mrs. Blum was a member of the Lutheran Church of German Hill, and lived a life of true devotion to the church, to her family and to God. Her passing away is deeply mourned by all who knew her. Funeral services in her memory were conducted by Rev. George Knauff in the Lutheran Church on German Hill Monday afternoon at two o'clock, with interment in the church cemetery.
