Charles was the son of Abraham I. Abbott and Madeline Cain. He was the twin brother of John C. Abbott.

He died at 21 years, a bookkeeper living at 317 Catharine St., 3rd Ward of Philadelphia. He was interred at Bethel Chapel Vault but his body was moved from Bethel Vault to Mount Vernon Cemetery, 15 May 1884.

From the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia, PA, 13 Nov. 1883:

"ABBOTT - On the 9th instant, CHARLES P., son of Abraham I. and Madeline W. Abbott, in the twenty-first year of his age.
The relatives and friend of the family, also Energetic Council, No. 120, A. L. of H., and Co. J, First Regiment; the Wharton Association and the employees of Nos. 818 and 820 Chestnut street, are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, on Wednesday afternoon, at 1 o'clock, from the residence of his parents, No. 217 Catharine street. To proceed to Bethel M. E. Church for services and interment."
