NOTE: Thomas Wheler changed his name to Wheeler after being knighted. So did his half-brothers and that of their children.

Knighted 1487 by the King for bravery, 16 Jun 1487, battle of Stoke (field), Simnel's Rebellion, Aldy-Charrish, West Ross-MacKays beat Rosses. This battle was the last battle fought in the War of the Roses.

Thomas married JOAN, maiden name JOAN JANE BUCKINGHAM. They were married Abt 1490, Cranfield, Bedfordshire, England. To this union, 7 children were born: THOMAS, b. Abt 1491; EDWARD, b. Abt 1493; WILLIAM, b. Abt 1495; ALICE (Alys), b. Abt 1500; HENRY, b. 1503; JOHN, b. Abt 1505; and RICHARD, b. Abt 1507. Thomas, Edward, William, Alice, and Richard were born in Wing, Buckinghamshire, England. Henry and John were born in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, England.

Greetings,

Find A Grave contributor regina collins has made a suggestion to you regarding your Find A Grave memorial for Thomas Wheler.

Their suggestion:
-------------------------
Joan's name is Joan Jane Buckingham.

Suggested edit: The information in this memorial is fictitious. Those of us researching the Wheeler family lineage of Bedfordshire have found no definitive evidence that this person or any others listed in the picture "Pedigree chart of Sir Thomas Wheeler" actually existed. Those knighted under King Henry VII at the battle of Stoke are known and no Wheeler or any variation of that name exists. Further, there is no history of a Sir John Welere, and his wife's name given as Patty Sue Milk is not possible as the name "Patty" was not in use until the 1700's. Unfortunately this memorial has been referenced in countless Wheeler family lineage charts and has caused much confusion. I request that this and the associated memorials referenced be removed to avoid further confusion. Thank you for your time and feel free to contact me if you wish.
