Brig. Gen. Muhlenberg, who was a former assistant paymaster general of the army, was a nephew of the late United States Senator Simon Cameron, of Pennsylvania, and was appointed a major and paymasterof the army in 1882. He was retired as a brigadier general April 7, 1908. He is survived by his wife and one son, Lieut. H.C.K. Muhlenberg, of the Second United States Infantry, now stationed at Fort Shafter, Hawaiian Islands.

H.C.K. Muhlenberg was adopted--the son of General John Alexander Kress and his second wife Lydia Homet.
