Lorene Rosal Birkholz, of Wellington, Kansas, formerly of Milan, Kansas, retired farm wife, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington, Kansas at the age of 88.
Lorene was born the daughter of Adam Gaug and Lydia Irion on Saturday, March 5, 1921 in Harper, Kansas.
On July 6, 1940, Lorene and Wayne Birkholz were united in marriage at Anthony, Kansas. He died on December 31, 1985.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Reed and her husband Max of Great Bend, Kansas, son, Dick Birkholz and his wife Sandy of Sheridan, Wyoming, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a sister, Irma Krone of Wichita, Kansas.
Friends may call at the Day Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 11, 2009. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening both at the Day Funeral Home in Argonia, Kansas.
Funeral services for Lorene will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 12, 2009 in Argonia Friends Church, 202 North Pine, Argonia, Kansas with The Reverend Mike Neifert of the Argonia Friends Church officiating.
Interment will follow in Milan Cemetery, .
