Mrs. Ethel Hoida, 87, 2475 Shady Oak Dr., died Friday morning, February 19, 1993 at home. She was born February 7, 1906 in Niagra to the late Joseph and Hattie (Maas) Ponkratz. She married Joseph Hoida and he preceded her in death on March 29, 1977. She owned and operated Ethel's Smart Shoppe for a number of years. She was a member of Oneida Golf & Riding Club and was active with the Red Cross Blood Bank.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Mary Hoida, a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Ray Sauvey, all of Green Bay; nine grandchildren, Joseph and Cheri Hoida, Green Bay, Kay Dawson, DePere, James and Barbara Hoida, Donald and Ann Hoida, all of Green Bay; Thomas Hoida, Patrick and Nancy Burke, John and Shelly Burke, all of DePere; Lynn and Rick Henninghausen, Oregon, Wis., David and Betsy Burke, Green Bay; 14 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Schauer and Schumacher East, 340 S. Monroe from 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday. Prayer services at 4 p.m. Sunday. Friends may also call at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church after 9 a.m. Monday. Funeral at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. John Van Deuren officiating. Burial in the Allouez Catholic Cemetery.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Bellin Hospice Staff for their loving care.
