Monett, MO-Gleason B Bowen, 92, Springfield, a former Monett resident, died at 6:20 a.m. Saturday in a Springfield nursing home after a long illness. Mr Bowen was born Apr 16, 1891 in Holt county, Neb. He had been a lifetime resident of Monett until recently moving to Springfield. He retired from Frisco Railroad as a switchman in 1957. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge AF&AM 129, Blue Lodge, York Rite of Neosho, Abou Ben Adhem Shrine, Springfield and Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen. He married Bessie Campbell on Aug 20, 1912, at Monett. She died Feb 27, 1980. He is survived by two sons, John T Bowen of Harrison, Ark, and Billy B Bowen, Springfield; two daughters, MS Margaret Fulton, Springfield, and Ms Mary Virginia Seidel, Kerrville, Texas, seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Services will be at 2p.m. at the Buchanan Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Frederick Zahn will officiate. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Monett. Masonic rites will be conducted 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home. Visitation will follow the Masonic service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Crippled Children's Fund.
