Jack Owen Balser, 62, of New Brighton, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2009, at his home.

Born December 22, 1946, in New Brighton, a son of the late Jack and Helen (DeMarco) Balser, he was retired and had been a maintenance man. He was Catholic by faith and a member of the S.O.I. and United Croatian Club, both of New Brighton. Jack was also the president of the Thomas Bishop Apartments Tenant Association.

Surviving are two daughters, Jackie Lea Balser and her companion, Chris Johnston, New Brighton, and Crystal Balser, Cleveland, Ohio; two granddaughters, Kyla and Ashley; two sisters and their husbands, Beverly and Corky Haswell, New Brighton, and Dee and Dennis Yandell, Brettwood, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Vicky Balser, Beaver Falls, and several aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Balser.

Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 p.m. until time of blessing service at 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, with the Rev. Father Tom Kredel, of the Holy Family Catholic Church, officiating.

Cremation will take place after the service.
