Her parents were Daniele Macchiarini and Brigida Mancini Macchiarini, both natives of Italy who immigrated to Sonoma County in Northern California, arriving in New York City on October 10, 1908.

Her two eldest siblings, Nunziata "Nona" Macchiarini (born 1903) and Ernesta "Ernestine" Frances Macchiarini (born 1905) were born in Pietrasanta, Lucca, Toscana [Tuscany], Italy. Both Italian-born sisters became naturalized U.S. citizens, and did not return to Italy.

Her American-born siblings were
Peter Macchiarini (1909-2001),
Flora Ellen Macchiarini (1911-1979), and
P. Dora "Doris" Macchiarini (1914-2010).

Along with her parents and her American-born siblings, she moved to Italy in the 1930s. There, she was married on June 8, 1940 at Pietrasanta, Lucca, Toscana, Italy to Elio Benvenuto.

With her husband Elio, she was the mother of one child -- a daughter -- and the grandmother of two.

Both she and her husband were professional artists working in San Francisco, California for 50 years, since the 1950s. Their studio near Ocean Beach was their workplace and their home.
