On October 26, 1902, he was married to Nettie Wallis. To this union 8 children were born. Preceding him in death were his wife and four children. He leaves to mourn his going two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Ozell Burns of Salem, Mrs. Faye Chilton of Licking, Omer Floyd of Licking, John Floyd of Mojave, California; four brothers, Eckles of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Charlie of Raymondville, Robert of Bliss, Idaho, Albert of Halsey, Oregon; two sisters, Lela Collins of Licking, and Tena Courtney of Licking, 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces and friends. He accepted Christ over 30 years ago.
Most of his life was spent in Dent County in the Hepsoda Community where he attended school as a boy.
Funeral services were held at the Hepsoda Baptist Church, Sunday, October 20 with Rev. Otto Schafer officiating. Interment was made in Patterson Cemetery under the direction of Smith & Ferguson Funeral Home.
Worked in timber.Logged with mules & traded mules, wagons, etc. Hauled logs from sawmills to Robert Judson Lumber Co., Salem, MO. Farmed a little & went to Texas, Kansas, & OK to work in harvest. For 3 years during WW11 he worked in St. Louis at McQuay-Norris Co. making wooden boxes for ammunition. He was laid off in 1946 & moved back to Dent County
