GREENVILLE — Funeral services for the Rev. S.B. Boyett will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Baskin Baptist Church in Baskin, La. He died Dec. 4 at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery in Crowville, La.

Brother Boyett was born July 23, 1925 in Dunn, La. to Simuel and Ida Boyett. He moved to Urania, La. at an early age with his family where he grew up. He attended school in Rayville, La. where he graduated high school. He attended Baptist College at William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Miss. where he graduated in 1975. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during World War II in the South Pacific as a corpman.

He served in the ministry for 60 years and pastored churches in California, Louisiana and Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Lessie Boyett, on Oct. 4, 2000; his son, Bobby Boyett in 1999; his parents, Simuel and Ida Boyett; two brothers, Bill Boyett and Dub Boyett; and his sister, Clorine Merideth.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Donnie and Linda Boyett, of Lake Providence, La.; two daughters, Kathy Day and her husband, Dennis, of Greenville, and Mary L. Blacksher of Alexandria, La.; his daughter-in-law, Millie Boyett, of Katy, Texas; 10 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The Rev. Donnie Boyett will officiate at the services.

Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Greenville.
