THE DALLES - Shirley J. Anderson-Gill, 82, of Arlington died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at Mid-Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles. A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Arlington United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Gill was born Sept. 8, 1927, in Portland to Roy E. and Margaret A. Krebs Hurst. She moved from Portland to Cecil at the age of 5, and then to Arlington at age 17. She attended school in Cecil and Arlington, graduating from Arlington High School in 1945.
She married Ronald C. Anderson in 1947; he died in 1970. In 1988 she married Edwin J. Gill in Arlington.
She was employed by the Bank of Eastern Oregon prior to getting married and resumed employment with the bank in 1973 until her retirement in 1990. She also served as a commissioner on the Port of Arlington from 1983 to 1990.
Mrs. Gill is survived by her husband, Edwin J. Gill of Arlington; children Linda Anderson Creager of White Salmon, Wash., Steven Anderson of Columbus, Ohio, David R. Anderson of Arlington and Randy Gill of Eugene; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Marilyn A. Rietmann.
