Jesse Hardin Porter, age 82, of Yeaman community, passed away Friday, (July 12, 2019) at his home under the loving care of his wife, Juanita. It was the end to a long journey of respiratory illnesses. He was born in Springerton, Illinois to Michael Dinwiddle and Wilma Susan Porter, on May 10th 1937. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Buda Rose Neel, twin sister Etta Kate Hancock, and his son Philip Scot Porter.

Hardin graduated from Caneyville High School, class of 1955. He worked with the United States Postal Service until retirement. He also worked as a farmer on his family farm in Yeaman. He was an avid fan of bluegrass music, hunting, and fishing. He was compelled by his wife to be a loyal UK Basketball fan. In his later years of life he enjoyed watching basketball games from all divisions. He was a member of the Yeaman Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Juanita Porter, a daughter Susan (Dudley) Cooper, of Elizabethtown, KY., Two sons, Joel "Joey" (Leisa) Porter, and Perry (Vicki) Porter, both of Falls of Rough, KY. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jessica Porter (Jeff) Kiper, Sarah Porter (Mike) Hale, Caitlin Cooper, Brandon (Jessica) Rusher, Brent Rusher, nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many cousins also survive.

His celebration of life will be handled by Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield, KY. Visitation and funeral services will take place at the Dermitt Funeral Home, with visitation on Monday, July 15th 2019, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm, and Tuesday July 16th 2019, from 9:00 am till time of service at 11:00 am. The burial will immediately follow in the Porter Cemetery.
