Oct 1992: Pearl O. Hess, died Friday at the home following an illness of five months. She was the wife of Charles H. Hess, who died in June of 1958. Born in Dublin, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late George and Emma Griest Orr. She retired in 1962 from the bindery department of Lancaster Press Inc. She also worked at various candy factories, including the American Caramel Co. and the former Keppel's Candy Co., both of Lancaster. She was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church and a former member of the Senior Citizens Happy Hours Club. Survivors include a daughter, Mary E (Bvel F) Black; a daughter, Shirley A Snyder; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. (Intelligencer Journal)
