"James Allen Prince"
James Allen Prince died at Elzora Manor Nursing Home in Milton-Freewater on Jan. 7, 1988, at age 78. He was born April 9, 1910 on Powwatka Ridge near Wallowa, the son of Philip and Sarah (Reid) Prince. On May 25, 1935 he was married to Iva Makin in Enterprise.
A native of Wallowa County, he loved the out-of-doors, hunting, fishing, farming, and taking care of his livestock. He and Iva spent 29 years on thier farm 10 miles north of Enterprise. In 1972 they retired, making their home in Enterprise.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Carolyn Maasdam of Enterprise; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three brothers, Lester of La Grande, Arthur of Union and Ted of Wallowa; five sisters, Ona Collins, Ora Berry, Laura Perry and Eva Dern all of Wallowa and Ethel Sutton of Waitsburg, Wash. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Lewis and Wayne and two sisters, Ida and Mattie.
Funeral services were held at Bollman Funeral Home Jan. 9, with Rev. Gerald Raedeke officiating. Music was furnished by Gloria Nitzke, organist, Lou Miller, vocalist. Pallbearers were Don Martin, Roy Collins, Allen Collins, Glen Price, Ashley Prince and Gale Prince. Interment was in the Enterprise Cemetery.
