James L. Morrow
Jan. 3, 1926-Nov. 30, 2009

James Louis Morrow, 83, passed away Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at St. Anthony Memorial in Michigan City.

Services will be held on Monday at 12 p.m. at the Root Funeral Home. Burial will follow services in Pine Lake Cemetery in La Porte. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the service at 12 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 at Root Funeral Home in Michigan City.

James was born Jan. 3, 1926 in Unicoi, Tenn., to Birdie (Coffee) and Will Morrow, who both preceded him in death as well as all siblings.

Mr. Morrow worked at General Tires in Marion, Ind., for 16 years before moving to Michigan City. Here, he worked for the South Shore Railroad from 1970 until 1989 where he was known by his buddies as "Louie". James then retired in 1989 to spend the rest of his life in leisure. He spent that time enjoying life and making people smile.

James had a special friend, Shirley Fleming, who was with him for more than 29 years before passing away just a few months before James.

James enjoyed gardening. His pickings were his pride and joy. He loved listening to music and singing old country songs to anyone who would listen. He and Shirley spent a lot of time dancing together and having a good time.

Although having no children of his own, he took many into his heart and became "Papa" to most who knew him. He was a free spirit with a heart of gold. He didn't have much throughout his life but was willing to give you anything you needed if he had it. James was truly someone special and will be missed by all who knew him.
