William was the son of Silas Standish & Mary Barnes. 13 Mar 1818 would be the calculated birth date given date of death and age. The History of Washington County, IN, dated 1884 gives 13 Mar 1818 as birth date. This Find a Grave Memorial gives date as the 18th rather than the 13th - I do not know the source of that date [Linda Standish].

On 3 December 1837, when William was 19 years old, he married Anna Maudlin. Anna was a Blue River Quaker until 5 Sept 1840 when she was "disf mcd" which means she was dismissed or disowned for marrying contrary to discipline, i.e., she married William Standish, who was not a Quaker. They were the parents of 5 children-Silas, Benjamin, Myles, Levi, and John.

Wife Anna and son Silas along with both his parents are buried in the Banks-Standish Cemetery.

About 5 months after Anna's death, William married Margaret Jane Buchanan 29 Sep 1853. They were the parents of Franklin, Mary, and Sanford.

"After an illness of a month or so, William Standish, died at his home on West Market Street, last Friday, and was buried at Crown Hill cemetery, Sunday afternoon, funeral services being conducted by Rev. Devoe, of the Christian Church. Mr. Standish was one of the most respected citizens of Washington county. He was about 75 years old and had lived in this county over 60 years." hand-written: July 28, 1892; Salem Democrat
