From grandson Daniel Reed Sears obit:
The Brewster standard., January 16, 1914, in 78th yr. Only son of Joseph Sears and Caroline Reed, who trace lineage back to an Ancestor who, in 1016 fought in the battle between Ethelred son of Edmond Ironsides and Canute, King of Denmark. At that time the name was written SAYER. The line proceeds unbroken to Richard, the pilgrim member of Pastor Robinsons congregation at Leyden from which came the little band of colonists in the MAYFLOWER in 1620. Richard was buried in Yarmouth August 26 1676, his widow Dorothy died and was buried there 2 yrs later. Paul Sears, the only male child of Richard and Dorothy to remain on this continent, married Deborah Willard. They had 11 children;
Benjamin Sears born May 2 1738 Mass,married Mary Hall of Southeast, who had Peter, Herman, Deliverance, Isaac and Samuel. Isaac born March 02 1772 married Pricilla Bennett, and their children were Harriet who married Jonah Barnum, Susan who married Benj DeForrest, Bradley who married Mary Norris and died Oct 09 1884, Joseph who is already mentioned, Agnes who married William Northrup, and Mary E who married Thomas S Young.
Daniel if of the 8th generation, He married Miss Mary Frances Week, who survives.

Surviving members of the family of Bradley Sears are his dtrs Miss Annie E Sears and Mrs Melissa Hall, who occupy the homestead
