Mrs. Bessie Pack Horton, 88, of Claudville, Va., passed away on Nov. 29, 2009, at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart, Va. Mrs. Horton was born Oct. 27, 1921, in Patrick County to the late Jim and Ada Goins Pack. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Orbra Horton, a son, Allen Horton, and an infant daughter; six sisters, Elsie Nunn, Dorra Bowman, Frances Farris, Emma Jean Jessup, Ola McCormick and Sadie Pack; five brothers, Clifton, Tommy, Faliss, Sanford and Riley Pack. Mrs. Horton was retired from J.P. Stevens and was a member of Stuart Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Horton is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Connie Woods of Mount Airy, Mrs. Carolyn Hayden of Mount Airy, Mrs. Jeanette Lundy of Mt. City, Tenn. and Mrs. Imener Peyton of Stuart; four sons, Larry Horton of Mount Airy, Maynard Horton of Claudville, Dale Horton of Ararat, Va., and Noel Horton of Claudville; one brother, Curtis Pack of Advance; and she is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Horton will be held on Tuesday Dec. 1, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, Va., with the Rev. Ricky Rogers and the Rev. Wayne Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Primitaive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Imener Peyton, Big A School Road. Memorials may be made to Stuart Primitive Baptist Church c/o Ray Roberson 1611 Dobyns Road Stuart, VA 24171 or to the Patrick County Alzheimers Association P.O. Box 1301 Stuart, VA 24171.
