Billie Campbell obituary: A Holland Hall secretary who enjoyed volunteering at church

BILLIE RUTH CAMPBELL passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at her home in Pawhuska. She was 88 years old.
Billie was born October 17, 1921 in Cleveland, Oklahoma, the daughter of Oliver W. "Skinny" and Lila E. (Galbraith) Henson. She graduated from Pawhuska High School with the Class of 1939. In November of 1944, she married William Roscoe "Bill" Campbell. The Campbells lived in Kansas, Arizona, Texas and Oklahoma during their marriage. Like so many other women, Billie worked at McDonald Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas during World War II. Bill preceded her in death on October 28, 1974 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Following his death, Billie became employed as a secretary at Holland Hall Schools, where she remained until her retirement. She then returned to Pawhuska to be near her only sister, Daphne Wise. Billie enjoyed playing bridge and going to garage sales. A member of the First United Methodist Church in Pawhuska, she also enjoyed volunteering at various church functions as well as other functions around the community.
Surviving are: Her three sons: Walter Campbell and wife, Cherie, of Manhattan Beach, CA; Michael Campbell and wife, Barbara, of Columbia, TN; Jon Campbell and wife, Nancy, of Odessa, TX; Two nieces: Mary Jech and Vannah Wise; Eight grandchildren: Jason Campbell, Kirsten C. Fraunces, Robin Campbell, Kendra Rennell, Keri Campbell, Courtney Campbell, David Campbell and wife, Katherine, and Amanda Campbell; six great grandchildren (with two on the way) a multitude of nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends. In addition to her husband, Billie was preceded in death by her sister, Daphne, and her parents.
Services will be held Friday, December 4, at 10:00 AM in the McCartney's Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Ted Hoffman will officiate. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.
