HAGERSTOWN - Graham Sylvester Boggs, age 82, of 336 Daycotah Ave., died Friday, Sept. 9, 2005, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, Md.

Born Nov. 23, 1922, in Hardy County, W.Va., son of the late Guy Sylvester and Mildred Bean Boggs.

His second wife, Florence Lena Boggs, preceded him in death.

Graham graduated from Allegheny High School, class of 1941. He served in the United States Marine Corps, during World War II and received an honorable discharge in November 1945, obtaining the rank of corporal. He retired from Mack Trucks Inc. in Hagers-town in 1987 after 231/2 years of service.

He was a member of Pinesburg Baptist Church, Pinesburg, Md., where in 1963 he chaired the committee that drew up the constitution and by-laws for the founding of the church.

He was a paid-up-for-life member of the Dixon Troxell Post 211 American Legion Funkstown, VFW Post 1936 Hagerstown, where he served as past commander and was appointed VFW National Aide-de-Camp, 1994-95; Military Order of the Cootie (MOC of Maryland) the Honor Degree of the VFW, where he served as a past Seam Squirrel and for many years volunteered 1,000-plus hours, while serving as associate rep. at the V.A. in Martinsburg, serving our hospitalized veterans; and AMVETS Post 10 Hagerstown. He was a 30-year member of the Eagles, Aerie 694 Hagers-town, a longtime member of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Maryland, Hagerstown Lodge 217 AF & AM, the UAW Local Union 171, and AARP.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene Virginia Showe Boggs, whom he married May 9, 1997; his two stepsons, Donald Dotter of California and Kenneth Dotter III of Maryland. His first wife, Charmaine, also survives him.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Wendell, Havin and an infant brother.

There will be no viewing.

Graveside services will be held at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery in Flintstone, Md., at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, you may make memorial donations to M.O.C. of MD, c/o Treasurer James Brady, 1314 Somerset Road, Severn, MD 21144-1943.

Arrangements are by Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport, Md.
